It is ideal for high production machining of small sized components as well as for use by mould makers for high speed capabilities. A heavy duty Meehanite cast machine bed for excellent damping properties is provided. The Meehanite process is nodular grey cast iron, cast and annealed to the exact specifications. X, Y and Z axis linear guides are of the NRS type which ensure high rigidity and dampening. NRS type guides offer much higher dynamic stiffness over other types of guides so positioning as well as surface finish and tool life is increased. A rigid 8,000rpm spindle is Fortune’s standard and features a both front and rear mounted heavy duty roller bearings as well as angular thrust bearings. The roller bearings help absorb the high radial loads of heavy face and end milling while the angular thrust bearings improve axial loads in deep drilling and boring operations. fast ram and arm type ATC offers faster tool changes as well as high reliability. The twin arm with cam mechanism ensures a short tool exchange time of just 2.5 seconds. The 16 pocket tool magazine is side mounted so as to be isolated from the machining area and tools can be selected from either direction and randomly. Rapid feed rates of 1181 ipm in the X and Y axis and 945 ipm in the Z axis makes this machine ideal for high production machining. Direct coupled servomotors eliminate backlash.
