  • GTXPRESS is a modular design, the available configuration options to allow design of a machine to fit your application requirements.
  • Super Polymer Mineral Base: The material is superior to all metallic materials in dimensional and thermal stability, as well as being more resistant to chemicals and water. The one-piece Super Polymer Mineral Base absorbs sound and cutting energy which provides quieter operation, reduces cutter excitement, and produces superior surface finishes. It does not rust; warp, bend, or bow under stress. It also supports faster travel with shorter settling times and enhanced tool life. Blending a variety of mineral fillers with a polymer resin-binding agent produces the Super Polymer composite material. When blended, molded, and cured an extremely powerful cross-linked bond is formed producing an exceptionally strong, stable, and durable structure. The end result is an ideal structure for a machine tool base.
  • Rigid Cross Slide: X-Axis design incorporates a high performance positioning system which features high pre-load, low friction, linear bearings and precision ball screws in a super precision thrust bearing set. The linear rails provide high accuracy, large load capacity, greater stiffness, and smooth operation. The system provides a work envelope of 12 inches in X-Axis, and 6.5 inches of travel in the Z-Axis. The T-slotted, gang tool plates allow for the easy mounting of 1, 2, 3, 4, 6 and 8 position tool holders. The linear axes are powered by high performance Yaskawa AC brushless, 400 watt Sigma II Servomotors and digital drives.
  • Spindle: This GTXPRESS configuration (other configuarations optionally available) is equipped with a standard 5C, five bearing, precision spindle for 6,000 RPM. The spindle is a cartridge manufactured by the Gros-ite Corporation. Every spindle is assembled in a class-10,000 cleanroom using ABEC 9 grade angular contact, duplexed pair, ball bearing sets for superior load bearing, smooth running and durability. The high preload triplex set of bearings (consisting of a duplexed pair for thrust loading and a radial idler for additional radial stability at the collet end of the spindle, and a duplexed pair of bearings at the drive end of the spindle) provide support for the drive belt and rotary collet actuator loading. Inpro Air Miser seals are deployed at the collet end of the spindle, and a multi-stepped mechanical labyrinth seal is deployed at the drive end. Regulated low-pressure purge air is applied to both seals to complete the application-proven coolant and contamination rejection seal system. Standard is a MicroCentric rotary union type collet closer.
  • Spindle Motors & Drives: GTXPRESS has a number of options for spindle motors and drives. Each motor and drive combination has been experience-proven as optimum for the specific application. Yaskawa spindle drives, and Baldor 5HP motors power all systems. Indexing requires a servomotor and digital servo drives that function in the "spindle" or "positioning" mode.
  • Collet Closer: A MicroCentric 5C collet closer is included. The unique "air journal" design is reliable and capable of high RPM performance.
  • Work Holding: The GTXPRESS is standard with a universal nose design. Each will interface directly with four standard nose configurations. Each option listed below mounts directly to the face of the spindle. There are no adapter plates and none will restrict the travel in Z-axis. The same drawtube works with collets as well as chucks. Each nosepiece can be adjusted to minimal run-out.
  • Spindle Brake: An optional pneumatic breaking system which will stop the spindle in half the time of conventional dynamic braking. In the application of heavy machining from a powered tool, the brake will hold the spindle rigid.
  • The Fagor 8025T CNC Control has been proven over the last 10 years as a powerful and reliable full-featured ISO programming CNC control. The Fagor 8025T offers a wide selection of programming features that include: canned cycles, tool compensation, programming and parametric programming features, diagnostics, and optional geometric assistance. The ease of setup and tool compensation accomplished with the 8025T make it an ideal control option for either short run or high rate production environments. RS232 offline programming is a standard. A PLC option is included as a standard feature with the CMS product line.
  • MagneTek 5HP Spindle Drive with Baldor Motor 230VAC 3-phase system is supplied. This is a MagneTek 315 high performance AC drive which, by the use of the IGBT transistors and high carrier frequency, provides low noise and high starting torque. Spindle speeds are programmable from 0 to 6,000 RPM.
  • Yaskawa Servo Indexing Spindle Drive Option: This option is required in order to program the main spindle to perform indexing operations. This option utilizes the Sigma II servomotor and drive combination with 230VAC 3-phase input power. This option delivers .08-degree resolution, and +/- 1 degree spindle positioning and repeatability.
  • Yaskawa AC Digital Vector Controlled C-Axis Spindle Drive & Motor: Yaskawa AC digital vector-controlled inverter and high performance AC induction spindle motor. “Book type” combo package inverter for 230VAC operation includes latest IGBT power transistors and DSP control circuitry resulting in the high performance necessary for today’s machine tool applications. Full-scale orientation function: Spindle positioning is secured by original orientation control, while restraining torque at stop prevents position deviation. Additionally, position control is achieved by using a high resolution encoder detection signal to reduce the orientation time. This 5HP motor comes equipped with an encoder, rugged bearings, and special balancing which minimizes vibration. The dual-wound motor provides high torque at speeds as low as 500 RPM and constant HP at speeds as high as 6,000 RPM. This system provides .08-degree resolution or optional .001-degree resolution and positioning accuracy of +/-.001 degrees. Provides simultaneous 2-axis movement -- (X-C) or (Z-C). The Fagor 8055T-A is required with this option.
