FEMCO MODEL HL15A HIGH SPEED PRECISION CNC LATHE

Featuring:

  • The HL15 is a powerful, large capacity lathe that can turn small through large lot parts. The huge turret casting incorporates an oversized curvic coupling. The HL15 can cut from 1/16” to 9.8” diameters and up to 11” lengths in a wide variety of materials.
  • The 12 station turret is a proven and a mature design. It’s a bi-directional turret and selects the shortest path to the next tool thereby minimizing non-cutting time. The main casting housing is oversized casting and incorporates a large curvic coupling.
  • The bed, a solid one piece casting, is made from close grain Meehanite cast iron. The ribbing locations and wall thickness are placed in strategic locations determined by computer finite analysis. This design allows consistent accuracies and excellent finishes. The saddle has a 30-degree incline, directing chips and coolant in to the available chip conveyor.
  • The headstock is made using close grain Meehanite cast iron. It is equipped with six, class 7 precision bearings that are grease lubricated. The large 2.2" spindle hole, permits up to 2” bar stock.
  • The HL15 features a high torque 20/15 HP Fanuc AC spindle motor makes heavy stock removal simple and fast, while minimizing the number of roughing cuts required. This powerful AC digital spindle drive system offers superior spindle acceleration, while maintaining excellent low-end torque. The gearless spindle transmission eliminates spindle vibration for high quality finishes.
  • Both the X and Z axes are driven by Fanuc AC Digital Servo Motors. They are directly coupled to high precision ball screws and supported at both ends, by angular contact thrust bearings. This double supported design assures excellent positioning accuracy, repeatability and minimizes thermal growth.
  • Lubrication is automatically metered to the guideways, ballscrews and tailstock quill. Lubrication to these critical areas and the volume is precisely metered. A low lube level alarm is generated, which prevents the machine from restarting, if the level of oil is below its safety level.
  • The HL15 is equipped with a high volume type coolant pump motor. The 12-station turret uses several methods of directing the coolant exactly where it is needed. The tool holders, have been designed to allow the user determine the way the coolant can best be utilized. For ID holders the coolant is directed through the tool (such as needed for deep hole boring applications). The holder can use flexible coolant lines, which come out of the size of the holder. If a sleeve is being used, the operator can direct coolant under or above the tool. For OD holders, the operator simply blocks the ID hole and directs coolant to the OD tool.
